Every Step Counts At Runway Show Fashion Event Benefits Survivors of Abuse ST. LOUIS (April 28, 2009)—Every Step Counts, Inc. (EstepCo) hosted its annual Walk in Her Shoes designer shoe fashion and trunk show April 11. The event, which benefited organizations serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, kicked things off with a runway show featuring footwear from such brands as Claudia Ciuti, Badgley Mischka, Stuart Weitzman, Pura Lopez, Nanette Lepore, Steve Madden, Bourne, Chooka, Ugg, Ed Hardy and Ecco contributed by local stores Sole Treasures Shoe Boutique, Dillard’s and Gabby’s. Several of the 17 models on the catwalk were themselves survivors of physical or sexual violence. “The topics of domestic violence and sexual assault are so heavy in nature that we wanted to create a fun and exciting way to bring about awareness,” says EstepCo founder Madeline Long-Gill. “Using shoes, which most people love, allows us to bring people together to support efforts to help end violence against women and children.” | |
