Brown Shoe Signs Deal With Vera Wang
Footwear Company Will License Lavender Label Collection

NEW YORK (Aug. 5, 2008)—Brown Shoe Co. is pairing up with luxury designer Vera Wang. The footwear giant signed a 3-year licensing agreement to manufacture and distribute shoes for the Vera Wang Lavender Label Collection. Set to launch next year, the new collection will offer a complete lifestyle line designed to target the contemporary customer. It will be comprised of ballerinas, espadrilles, sandals, clogs, pumps and boots.

The collection will resemble its counterpart, the Lavender Label apparel collection, with touches of whimsy and youthful spirit. “In terms of fashion licensing, we believe that shoes are a critical component to complement the Lavender Label apparel, and this important category will fuel continued growth for the brand,” says Susan Sokol, president of Vera Wang Apparel.

Signing its second Lavender Label license in less than 6 months, the Vera Wang Group continues to grow upon the successful apparel platform. Lavender Label apparel, which is distributed in more than 450 doors globally, has grown by 60 percent in the past 12 months. Since its launch in 2005, the label has become known for its playful, carefree style.

The collection will retail for $195 to $695, with distribution in the same stores as the Lavender Label apparel including Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom’s, as well as top-tier department and specialty stores throughout the world.

“Brown Shoe is excited to partner with Vera Wang to extend her artistic fashion influence to a footwear line for the contemporary consumer,” says Brown Shoe president and COO Diane Sullivan.
