Fancy Footwear Steals Spotlight On L.A. Runways
Brands Provide Designers with Hot Styles

CULVER CITY, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2008)—Footwear may not be the audience’s main focus during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios, but the shoes do more than simply get the models down the runway. Not only do they add nuance to the designer’s runway vision, they’re great exposure for savvy footwear brands, too.

Michael Antonio, which provided shoes to five shows last week including Julia Clancey, D'amore by Marceau and Joseph Domingo, knows the importance of playing a part in one of Los Angeles’ most prominent fashion showcases.

“It is important for us to be involved, because it showcases the variety of styles that Michael Antonio offers, as well as the range of interest we receive from diverse and talented designers from Christian Audigier to Kevan Hall,” CEO Michael Su tells WSAToday.com. “The shows give us buzz in the fashion world, help introduce our brand to newbies, and solidify Michael Antonio as a favorite among top designers.”

Luckily, the fast-fashion brand is able to roll out more than 100 new styles each month, giving designers headed to Fashion Week plenty of options to choose from. “We work with each designer to capture the look they want, whether that is a trendy bootie like the Magnolia, or a more elegant style like the Aissa,” Su continues. “We forecast trends and can help narrow down the right styles after hearing about the designers’ collections. We let them design top looks, and we deliver top shoes—it’s a perfect marriage!”

But Michael Antonio doesn’t have a monopoly on the Los Angeles event. Shoes from Report Signature and Giuseppe Zanotti were also seen parading down the runways last week.
