Heading Eastland Edgy designs give the brand a whole new attitude Best known for comfort casual weekend footwear, Eastland is getting edgier for fall ’09 thanks to the input of a new men’s designer.
Jordan Klein comes to the brand from Steve Madden and promises to put a new twist on the brand while remaining true to its soul (and soles). “Eastland remains focused on our core consumer, who depends on us for a great casual comfort shoe,” says marketing director Mary Brown. “[But] we are also directing our attention to what our emerging, younger Eastland customer is looking for in his day-to-day footwear.”
That customer is likely to reach for Base Camp or Full Time, two ruggedly handsome styles ready to take him through the weekend and beyond. Base Camp is a three-eye duck bootie featuring oil impregnated leather with plush, felted wool details. A padded insole and durable outsole ensure that he feels as good as he looks. Full Time, part of the brand’s new True Grit collection, is made from fully waterproof leather with a canvas shaft. A comfort unit sole and cushioned inner sole also make it a choice for all day wear in any weather.
“Our younger male customer still depends on us for a quality comfort shoe,” Brown explains. “But he’s looking for a melding of a down-to-earth classic with a contemporary urban influence to keep it fresh. Full Time retails for $100; Base Camp for $80. |
