QVC, FFANY Battle Breast Cancer
Fundraiser Expected to Raise $3 Million

NEW YORK (Oct. 17, 2008)—On Wednesday, Oct. 13 the footwear industry converged on The Waldorf=Astoria for the 15th annual QVC Presents FFANY Shoes on Sale. Broadcast live on QVC, more than 100,000 pairs of shoes from over 95 brands—including benefactors Nine West Footwear Corporation and Brown Shoe Company—were donated for this year’s charity event. The largest fundraiser in the shoe industry, the event is expected to raise more than $3 million for eight leading breast cancer research centers across the U.S.

Designer of the Year Tory Burch

In addition to the on-air shoe sale, the black-tie benefit also honored Tory Burch as Designer of the Year, Saks Fifth Avenue as Retailer of the Year and Harper’s Bazaar was presented with the Award for Journalism Excellence. Design personality and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano was also recognized as Special Guest for the evening.

“We are thrilled to come together for the 15th year in a row for this very worthy cause and look forward to raising even more funding for breast cancer research,” says chairman of the Fashion Footwear Charitable Foundation Joe Moore.

Since the event’s inception, “FFANY Shoes on Sale” has sold more than one million pairs of shoes, raising over $28 million for breast cancer research and education. Net proceeds from this years program will benefit the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Gillette Center for Women’s Cancers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Breast Oncology Program, Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins and John Wayne Cancer Institute Breast Center at Saint John’s Health Center.
