Sebago Opens New York Pop-Up Store
Brand Pairs Up with Vane for Limited-Edition Line

ROCKFORD, Mich. (Mar. 27, 2009)—Sebago will be in a New York state of mind tonight as it opens the doors to a pop-up shop in the Big Apple. Conducted in partnership with local fashion and design collective Vane, the event also celebrates the debut of a limited-edition footwear collection. In addition to stocking Vane for Sebago, the store will offer pieces from Vane’s private label jewelry collection, additional Sebago footwear styles and select Sebago apparel pieces. The store will be open until April 20.

“Vane approached us about a collaboration because they wanted to work with an iconic brand with authentic products, and felt our classic 2-eye, Docksides pattern would make an important statement to their consumers,” says Mike Walls, Sebago director of sales, U.S. market. “We are excited to bring Sebago to Manhattan’s Lower East Side, where the nautical and boat shoe trends are going strong. The Vane for Sebago collection is a truly unique and fresh take on our classic styles... It is a unique opportunity to introduce our classics to an entirely new consumer.”

The limited-edition line features a modified version of the classic, casual and marine footwear brand’s Spinnaker silhouette. This Docksides style boasts a moccasin construction, two- and three-color uppers with rubber slip-resistant soles, rawhide laces and non-corrosive brass eyelets. New twists will include the use of patent leather, contrast stitching on the shoe’s uppers and a range of colors, textures and accents. Each shoe will be co-branded Sebago and Vane. The style retails for $110.

As customers enter the store, they’ll be greeted by a custom mural on the front gate designed by New York graffiti duo Surf and Mint. Collectively known as Mirf, the pair also created a limited-edition T-shirt available exclusively in the store.
