Shoe Designers Pay Tribute To Oz Ruby Slipper Collection Marks 70th Anniversary of Historic Film BURBANK, Calif. (July 17, 2008)—Dorothy wasn’t the only one transported by the magic of her ruby slippers in The Wizard of Oz. Now, 70 years later, Warner Bros. Consumer Products is joining forces with Crystallized Swarovski Elements to pay homage to the iconic shoes by inviting some of the industry’s top shoe designers to create their own glimmering versions. The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection will be auctioned off and the proceeds will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. “The Wizard of Oz is a quintessential and endearing story that has touched countless people all over the world during the last 70 years,” says Karen McTier, executive vice president of domestic licensing and worldwide marketing for Warner Bros.
