Italian Designer Heads To The WSA Show
High Quality Comfort Line a Hit with D.C. Customers

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Kevin Powers, owner of D.C. fashion-forward boutique Carbon, has added another duty to his list. After finding that the Italian brand Gidigio was the solution to his wife's quest for a fashionable shoe that was still comfortable enough to wear all day in her job as a pharmacist, he began stocking the collection in his store. When customers responded with enthusiasm to shoes, sandals and boots chic enough to wear to the office but comfortable enough for trekking through the city, he discovered he had a hit on his hands.

Soon after, Powers became the company's U.S. sales rep. Now, Powers is taking the line to The WSA Show and will have some far-flung company. "Giorgio D'Alessandro, the designer of Gidigio shoes, has decided to fly from Italy to greet customers at our booth," he says.

With suggested retail prices starting in the low-to-mid $200s, Gidigio offers what Powers describes as "affordable luxury. [This is] footwear that's stylish, comfortable and very well built. It's what 'made in Italy' is all about." The line has been hand-crafted in Italy since 1996.
