This season will see a transformation of traditional metallics. Rather than using gold, silver and bronze, designers are adding luster to jewel tones, as seen in this outfit by Isaac Mizrahi. Shades of red, green and blue have a liquid presence on polished patent. Image According to stylist Johanna Foster, this trend comes in response to last season’s patent popularity. “Think tonal when pairing this shoe with your clothes,” she recommends. “If the metallic is a wine color, pair it with a similar charcoal gray or black pant. If the metallic has a navy cast, pair it with dark denim. Lighter neutral metallic shoes should match your bottom half… If the shoe is bold in color, it needs to work back to a bit of bold color in your printed top.”
