MONTREAL, Canada—Kamik, the Montréal based company known for their outdoor footwear, has announced plans to unveil a new line of performance and casual socks for men, women and children. This will be Kamik's first foray into the sock business, and the family owned company has tapped Richter International, a division of the Richter group for the line extension. Richter Internationa is one of the world's largest spinners of wool yarn in the world. "We're always looking for ways to enhance our current offering, and not surprisingly, the idea of socks has long been something we've considered, but we wanted to do it right," explained company president Richard Cook. "Richter is a well known established company in the yarn and apparel business, and we're confident that this new line will continue in the tradition Kamik started over 100 years ago of providing quality and functional merchandise at affordable prices."

The line of Kamik branded socks will include styles for hiking, skiing, outdoor sports as well as the casual every day. The performance socks are made from a special blend of Thermo Cool and Merino, which creates a superior fabric that has thermal properties as well as cooling wicking properties. This yarn blend is exclusive to Richter in North America.

With steady growth over the past several years for performance socks, there is already a marketplace for the new line. Both Kamik and Richter will partner during the initial launch to secure retail accounts, and anticipate a welcome reception from current and new Kamik customers.
