The Gladiator Sandal Gets a Modern Twist This Spring

There’s a reason the gladiator sandal has survived centuries of fashion turmoil and splendor. Next spring, designers like Balenciaga looked to classicism of the past for inspiration, gravitating toward natural neutrals for their palettes.

Liquid metallic gold shines on this sophisticated T-strap gladiator from Apepazza. Double rows of bucked straps give it a modern feel, and the slightest of heels adds just enough height.

Retails for $98

Arturo Chiang lauds the versatility of this classic silhouette. “They are quite edgy and can be worn in a number of ways,” he tells WSAToday.com. The former couturier thinks gladiator sandals pair well with “dresses in lightweight crepes and jersey” with “an almost Grecian appeal” and “the new fuller skirts.” For a “sexier look,” Chiang suggests narrow pants.
