City Style in Berkley, Mich.

With the weather already turning chilly in Berkley, Mich., shoppers are gearing up for fall at City Style. The two-year-old store stocks mostly mid-height heels and wedges, attracting a professional clientele in the up-and-coming blue-collar town. “My customer base is probably in their late 20s and up,” explains owner Carrie Vestrand. “They’re professional women who want to look good, but need to feel good as well. And they don’t mind spending $100 on a shoe as long as it feels good.” Vestrand lists square toes, the color red and moccasins as the hottest trends in her area.
