Montana Gets Glamorous With Miss Sixty, J Shoes
Sole Sisters Prefer Classics by Halé Bob, Dansko

In Helena, Mont., the best way to dash away winter doldrums is to don stylish boots, flats or clogs, says Sole Sisters co-owner Gerry Hanson. Along with her sister, Kim Garrity, Hanson seeks out unique women’s styles that are both fashionable and practical. “We’re on our feet all day long, so we can empathize with customers who want something that looks good but performs during the day,” she tells WSAToday.com. “We love some of the 3- or 4-inch pumps but they just don’t work for nine out of 10 customers that come in. They work for clubbing, but they don’t work for Montana per se,” she jokes. “Women still want something that looks feminine and looks a little dressy and can be worn with slacks or skirts and dresses or with jeans. They want something that can be worn with everything in their wardrobe.” Here, a look at some top-selling styles.

ImageValia by Miss Sixty

Price:
Retails for $295
Why It’s A Top Seller:

“It was kind of a caramel color,” says Hanson. “It had a really great color and a nice heel height. The color was great; I would probably say it was the color. People seem to be really attracted to that. It’s a take off from chocolate brown and black and it’s a great transitional color that takes people from fall to spring really well.”

ImageBabette by J Shoes

Price:
Retails for $192
Why It’s A Top Seller:

“It was kind of a platform, just a little bit of a platform. We had it in a forest green and in black. The forest green outsold the black. It has contrast with its aqua leather lining. That, too, had a little bit of that saddle color or caramel color to it. It was a really comfortable boot. It was a really nice construction and something really fresh-looking. It sold like hotcakes when we first got it in.”

ImageMila by Miss Sixty

Price:
Retails for $165
Why It’s A Top Seller:

“It was a suede ballet with real big stones on it. It had that really nice adornment. That did very well.”

ImageStella by Halé Bob

Price:
Retails for $98
Why It’s A Top Seller:

It was a teal colored patent leather peep toe from Halé Bob. That also had a big crystal floret—it almost looked like a crystal brooch over the toe.

ImageDublin by Franco Sarto

Price:
Retails for $99
Why It’s A Top Seller:

“Late, late fall we got in some Franco Sarto shoes made on a great last. It was just a nice basic pump done in a fantasy patent. They start out with the color of the shoe on the toe and it gradates to black on the heel. That gradation—people have been really interested in that.”

ImageProfessional by Dansko

Price:
Retails for $118
Why It’s A Top Seller:

“We still do very well with the Dansko professional. We just can’t seem to keep it in stock. The basic black cabrio is the one that everyone wanted this year. Everyone was pretty happy with black. For any kind of casual wear, that was what they’re going for. We sold a lot of black patents just before Christmas.”
