Deckers Donates
COMPANY GIVES 250,000 PAIRS OF SHOES TO SOLES4SOULS

GOLETA, Calif. (Mar. 16, 2007)—Deckers Outdoor Corp., makers of Teva, Simple and UGG Australia, is the latest footwear maker to join Soles4Souls' Million Pair March by donating 250,000 pairs of new and used footwear to Sudanese refugees.

“If we look in our closets, we might be embarrassed by the number of shoes we own that rarely, if ever, get worn,” said president and CEO Angel Martinez. “Why not donate those pairs to people in need? And the best part for us shoe lovers is that we then get to buy some new shoes, guilt-free.”

The 250,000 pairs are just part of the 1 million pairs of shoes that Soles4Souls plans to collect as part of its March fundraising campaign. Other footwear companies, including Reebok, as well as celebrities Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Jessica Alba, Kristin Chenoweth and Parker Posey have also pledged to donate shoes. Deckers is also encouraging members of its local Santa Barbara, Calif. community to step up and donate new, old or unwanted shoes at various drop-off locations.

"Deckers Outdoor Corp. is filled with compassionate people who have a huge heart for reaching out to their community and the world at large," said Soles4Souls founder Wayne Elsey. "Since our very beginning they have been instrumental in helping us reach millions of people, and we are humbled by their incredible participation in this campaign."
